Donald Trump's System of Retribution and Reward

Donald Trump's voracious appetite for revenge has rapidly transformed into a methodical system. During the past year, the president's fury and whims have assumed the form of government actions similar to reminiscent to historical dictatorial regimes. Federal officials who resist his demands are summarily removed and succeeded by loyalists. Political leaders who confront him encounter indictment, trial and punishment. Adversaries have been designated under executive directives as “unpatriotic”, “anti-Christian” and “anti-capitalist”, and menaced with prosecution as “terrorists”.

The Justice System Restructured

Every situation involving prosecution of political opponents and immunity for supporters demonstrates its own distinct features. But, despite their specific nature, they exemplify examples of what has arisen as a deliberate approach. Such incidents are not coincidental. His removal of federal lawyers and Federal Bureau of Investigation personnel, coupled with his placement of devotees in high-level roles, started rapidly, soon took on a regularity, and has now been shaped into a structure. The justice department and the law enforcement agency have been remade into ideological bodies under his explicit orders to execute his directives. Wrongdoing has been rendered normal. This is the system of punishment.

Administration is more concerned with penalizing the leader's alleged enemies than they are with protecting our national security.

Within the Apparatus

The beginnings of this system has been exposed in the legal complaint of multiple ex- senior law enforcement agents lodged in September in the US district court in the capital against top official an administration figure and top lawyer another official for wrongful dismissal in “a campaign of revenge against them for what administration figures considered to be a refusal to exhibit sufficient devotion”. The document states that Brian Driscoll, the ex- interim leader, describes a discussion in which the director “freely admitted the unlawfulness of his behavior”.

He had tried to protect FBI agents from being fired, the complaint alleges. He told him that “they” – perceived by him to be the White House and DoJ – had ordered him to remove anyone who they identified as having been involved in a legal probe against Trump. The filing adds: “Patel explained that he had to dismiss the individuals his leaders told him to fire, because his ability to keep his own job relied on the removal of the agents who were involved in investigations involving the President. The director explained that there was no option he or him could do to halt these or any other terminations, because ‘the bureau attempted to place the leader in detention and he recalls it clearly.’” When the official informed Patel he was disregarding the agency's own regulations, he reportedly said “he knew that and he realized the essence of the immediate dismissals were likely unlawful”.

Extensive Impact

After his claimed admission to the official, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau have been weakened and reorganized for his revenge apparatus. Six of the FBI's high-ranking agents were terminated or pushed out in the initial period of the government. About 4,500 legal professionals at DoJ have agreed to a “voluntary departure plan”. No fewer than several DoJ lawyers, such as those in the New York office, resigned in dissent over what they viewed as partisan influence in withdrawing the legal action against the city leader, Eric Adams, in return for his collaboration with the administration's ICE roundups of foreign nationals. The anti-corruption unit of the department, which handles ethical violations, has been reduced to two attorneys. The civil rights division has been decimated: seventy percent of its staff has resigned. 33% of senior leaders at the justice department have quit. The unit upholding environmental law has experienced the exit of a majority its management.

Favors and Punishments

Regarding the mayor's situation, the acting US attorney for the southern district of New York, the official, resigned in protest against what she labeled as the “exchange”. The border official, the president's “immigration leader,” appeared as the implementer with the mayor on television to state: “If he doesn't come through, I'll be back in the city.”. And, a former official, formerly the justice department figure and a past legal representative, who negotiated the arrangement, was granted an appellate federal judgeship, a possible stepping stone to the highest court.

The president's immunity for wrongdoings committed while in office, awarded by the remarkable decision of the Republican majority on the highest court, thus thwarting his criminal case over the political violence and preserving his electoral prospects for the national vote, is the cornerstone on which he depends to defend his supporters. With such immunity, he has been liberated to authorize wrongdoing. The consequence of the judicial ruling infuses his administration and the political party down to its bones. The legal case has spread. As Richard Nixon's administration lawyer the figure commented about the Watergate
