From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can expect learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
